Dear Friends and Schoolmates, 
   There is more sad news this Saturday morning.  Kurt Kierstead, husband of
Helen Flax Kierstead ('58) of Ontario, and brother-in-law of     Tom Flax ('64) of VA, Joel Flax ('68) of VA, and Meredith Flax of VA, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Ridgeway, Ontario at the age of 71.

RIDGEWAY, ONTARIO - On Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, Kurt passed away peacefully at home, with his beloved wife by his side at the age of 71.

Loving husband and best friend to Helen (nee Flax); dear father of Shari (Don) Phillips of Reidsville, N.C., Howard (Suzanne) Halberstadt of Webster, N.Y., and Shari (Jeff) Ball of Whitby, ON; cherished grandfather of Ian and Meaghan Halberstadt and Colin Ball; brother of Van Kierstead of Gallatin, Tenn.; brother-in-law to Tom (Nancy) Flax, and Joel (Gail) Flax of Virginia Beach, Va., and Meredith Flax of Richmond, Va. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Kurt will be remembered as a generous, loving and caring man and a true humanitarian and will be missed by all.

A private family service celebrating Kurt's life was held.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked, for those who wish, that memorials be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Kurt.
