“I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to
have been only a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.” - Sir Isaac Newton (25 Dec 1642 - 20 Mar 1727 [NS: 04 Jan 1643 - 31 March 1727] ) |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
The theme song
for today's Newsletter was released in two very popular versions in 1956. I
quickly memorized it and belted it out whenever possible - which, given the
lyrics, must have sounded a bit strange, coming from a nine-year old.
While I was a big fan of Gale Storm as an actress, I personally vastly preferred Cathy Carr's rendition of the song. See what you think:

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivory_Tower_%281956_song%29:
"Ivory Tower" is a popular song written by Jack Fulton and Lois Steele. Popular versions by Cathy Carr and Gale Storm, and a rhythm & blues version by Otis Williams and the Charms all received major popularity in 1956. Carr's version reached #2 and Storm's #6 on the Billboard pop charts, while Williams' version reached #11 on Billboard's R&B chart.

“In moments of fear
or doubt or troubling times, hold to the ground you have already won,
even if that ground is limited. . . When these moments come and issues
surface, the resolution of which is not immediately forthcoming, hold
fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional

FINALLY:
From http://www.ajokeaday.com - 02/17/15:My grandparents were taking me on a vacation to Disneyland. Grandma was excited for me when we boarded the plane, she exclaimed that I was lucky, because I got the Shakespeare seat. "Why is it the Shakespeare seat, Grandma?" "You are in seat 2-B, so it's the Shakespeare seat." "Don't be silly, Grandma. All the seats on an airplane are Shakespeare seats." "How do you figure that?" "Well, it's either seat 2-B or not 2-B." |

Come down come down from your ivory tower
Let love come in to your heart
Don't lock yourself in your ivory tower
Don't keep us so far apart
I love you I love you
Are you too far above me to hear
Come down come down from your ivory tower
You'll find true love has its charms
It's so cold so cold in your ivory tower
But warm so warm in my arms
I love you I love you
