01/31/08 - NNHS Newsletter - Eason Price
Roy Eason Price, Jr. Hampton High School Class of 1964 |
![]() |
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have still another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter tonight.
Eason Price, Hampton High School, Class of 1964, passed away in Hampton on
Monday, January 28, 2008 at the age of 63.
My own memories of him are simply that of a gorgeous young man from a rival school that I knew only by sight and name. He was obviously one of Hampton's most respected and beloved citizens, and we mourn his loss.

From F.A. Saunders
(Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 01/28/08 - "HHS Class of 64":
Classmates,
Was just notified that
Eason Price passed away today. He was diagnosed with cancer two years
ago and at that time doctors gave him possibly 6 months................well, he
fought the fight with a great attitude and a positive outlook and lived to the
fullest for over two years. He went into work every day until just a couple
weeks ago.
Talked with Bruce tonight and he said funeral arrangements will probably be in
the paper on Wednesday with visitation most likely Wednesday evening at
Parklawn......
I'm very sorry to hear this, F.A.! Please
extend our sincerest sympathies to Eason's family as well as to your classmates.

Certainly, Gloria. Thank you for
sending the expanded obituary.
I'm
so sorry for the loss of your friend.

| I am
going to miss my friend, Eason. For many years, we enjoyed countless visits
in his studio. He was always a willing font of information, I will treasure
what I garnered from our conversations. Never have I known a more unassuming, focused, talented and determined person than Eason. His quiet perseverance during his long illness was admirable and astonishing. I believe he found peace in his life -- I trust that he is in greater peace, now. Condolences to his family and friends. All are in my prayers. |

| I was so very sorry to hear of Eason's passing and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of his family members. My family and I lived next door to the Prices for several years in Southampton. Years ago my son Skip Singleton wanted a signet ring. Skip designed it; and Eason, the master of goldsmithing, made it perfectly. Since Skip's death in 1998, I have worn the ring in remembrance of Skip...and now will wear it in remembrance of Eason also. |

| I will always remember my walks on the beach with Uncle Eason, and our philosophical conversations. He was always one that I knew would take the time to talk and walk, a man of gentle kindness and quick wit. I am glad to know that in his own words, "the Jewish carpenter and I are tight." My emotions now are to his family as they face such a loss, my tears for the memories now complete. |

| To all of Eason's siblings and spouses, his wife and children, May God be with and comfort all of you as you experience this heavy sadness. Yes, South Hampton loses another of it's children; too many in recent years. The Price family has always been special to me, from tending vegetables in Amos's garden and playing in the barn to watching the girls ride horses in later years. Eason will be sadly missed by all of us. |

| Growing up on Henry Street next door to the Prices was always fun....Roy, Sr., sweet, sweet Margie, Amy, Peggy (my sorority sister), Molly, Josh, and, of course, the tall, blond, good-looking 'boy' on whom I had a major crush. To that boy's family, may God bless you in your time of sorrow. Take comfort in knowing that Eason is with his mom, dad, and, his beloved Sandy. |

What Wondrous Love Is This?
Words by Alexander Means
Music by William Walker, 1835
What wondrous love is this, O my
soul, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul,
To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.
When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing;
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing.
To God and to the Lamb Who is the great 'I Am';
While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing;
While millions join the theme, I will sing.
And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on;
And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on.
And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing and joyful be;
And through eternity, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on;
And through eternity, I’ll sing on.
