Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

We have more sad news to report today. Uldine Jones McMahon, Class of @ 1941, sister of the late Jean Jones Aniello, passed away at home in Newport News on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 one month before her 91st birthday.

From The Daily Press - 01/29/15:

                    Uldine Jones McMahon

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Uldine McMahon, 90, of Newport News, died on January 27, 2015, at home.

Born Glennie Uldine Jones in Goldsboro, NC, on February 29, 1924, she had been a resident of Newport News since early childhood. She attended Stonewall Jackson Elementary School and attended Newport News High School.

She worked as a timekeeper at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company for twenty years. She spent many years working for Newport News Parks and Recreation teaching ceramics.

Uldine was preceded in death by her fourth husband, John Patrick McMahon; parents, Pearl and Henry Jones; sister, Jean Aniello; and son, Claude Albert "CA" Tolbert.

She is survived by her children James Henry Tolbert (wife Linda Tolbert) of Newport News, Theresa M. Cannon of Newport News, Cynthia McMahon Miller (husband Wayne Miller) of Newport News, Patrick McMahon (husband Bill Freeman) of Arlington, VA; grandchildren James H. Tolbert Jr, Tamara Tolbert Quitko, Thomas E. Tolbert, Angela Salcido, Toni Michelle Cannon, and Zachary David Cannon; and great grandchildren Nicole Tolbert Clark, Michael Quitko, Mason Salcido, and Taylor Tolbert.

Visitation for Uldine will be at Peninsula Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 4:00-5:30 pm. She will be buried in a private service at Peninsula Memorial Park.

Uldine was not particularly fond of floral arrangements, but she loved great food, good Scotch, and blue humor. In lieu of flowers, therefore, the family suggests that you take some time to enjoy a special meal or favorite drink and, perhaps, tell a salty joke or two. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Theresa, Cindy, Pat... Your family was such a huge part of my childhood. It breaks my heart about your (our) mom. So many wonderful memories of St Paddy's Day and New Years Eve parties at your house. Food, Fun, and Spirits were always a requirement. I am comforted in knowing she and Flo are hanging out together again laughing and embracing each other. Together they will watch over us like they always have.

Theresa, Cindy and Pat,
I have such fond childhood memories of you and your mom at North Riverside Baptist Church. Your mom was one of my mother's dearest friends. We had some wonderful times. May God bless you and the family through the days ahead.
