...William
Lawrence Lovedahl, age 83, passed away January 18, 2016. He was the
brother of Jimmy Lovedahl, class of 1961. I do not know if he
went to N.N.H.S. or not. I did not see him in the 1950 or 1951 yearbook. He had a private graveside at Peninsula Memorial Park on January 27th...
Fred, I am so sorry to learn
this. Thank you for letting me know; considering the age gap between
Bill and Jimmy, I had been debating whether or not this was indeed "one
of ours".

My dad, Sonny Chapman, enjoyed working with Bill and many golf and other
outings during his retirement. He considered him a good friend. Sorry to
read of his passing.

The Lovedahl family, Very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. What a nice man Bill was. He broke me in for my first job at the shipyard in 1968 (the piecework counters). We worked together a lot of years and I would eventually take his place when he retired in '91. He helped me greatly and I really liked working for him and with him. My sympathy is with all of you and I'm sure each of you have many great memories. He always spoke highly of his kids. Buddy and Mary Rilee Gloucester, Virginia ~ Buddy Rilee, Gloucester, Virginia

I'm so sorry for your loss. Cheryl and my prayers are with you. - Mike Mack

Kenny,
Randy, and Theresa, My condolences upon the passing of your dad. Both he and your mom were fixtures in the old neighborhood. They don't have many neighborhoods like that anymore! It was a wonderful time and place to grow up. Your family had a lot to do with making it that special! I know his health was not going well, so I am relieved that those issues are now over, but he will be sorely missed. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I know my family, (Nancy, David, and my mom, Norma Carmines) all feel the same way about him, and about you all. Peace, Robert Carmines ~ Robert Carmines, Newport News, Virginia

Mr. Lovedahl was one of us
at Bethany UMC. He was in
our Happy Hearts group, came
to our lunches and
frequently went with our
group out to lunch. I
remember having him come
with us to Donk's Theater
one Saturday. He was such a
sweet and gentle soul. We
have missed him and will
always have warm memories.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee,
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save me from its guilt and pow'r.
Not the labors of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law's demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.
Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked come, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Savior, or I die!
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
