NEWPORT NEWS - Nell Lindley Tissiere of Newport News, 87, passed away on January 18, 2016.

Nell was born in Statesville, NC on August 26, 1928 to the late Ila Mae Lindley and John Turner Lindley.

Nell graduated from Newport News High School and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 30 years of service. After her retirement she pursued a second career, joining Mary Kay Cosmetics. Her success at Mary Kay led her to become a Director, where she loved her Mary Kay friends and family.

Nell and Ed met while she was still in school. She waited for Ed to get out of the Navy, while he waited for her to graduate from high school so they could begin their life together.

Shall We Gather at the River

Words and Music by Rev. Robert Lowry (1826-1899)

 Shall we gather at the river,
Where bright angel feet have trod;
With its crystal tide forever
Flowing by the throne of God?

Chorus

Yes, we'll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.

On the margin of the river,
Washing up its silver spray,
We will walk and worship ever,
All the happy golden day.

Chorus

Ere we reach the shining river,
Lay we every burden down;
Grace our spirits will deliver,
And provide a robe and crown.

Chorus

Soon we'll reach the shining river,
Soon our pilgrimage will cease,
Soon our happy hearts will quiver
With the melody of peace.
