I had the pleasure of working
with Willie for a while and also with his son. Willie was fun to be
around because he could have you laughing without really trying. My
thoughts and prayers are with his family.
January 20, 2013 Willie was one of a kind. I
admired his humbleness and love for the Lord. To his family and friends may
God provide you the strength that you need during your time of bereavement.
I worked with him when I worked for the NNFD. January 20, 2013 January 20, 2013
I knew Bill about 45
years. There was that trip in the snow to William Mary to see
Raymond Moody, trips to ARE in Virginia Beach, and to a Silva
session. He was highly introspective and I appreciated that side
of him. But he was more than that: a true friend.
~ Houston Fitzgerald, Eden, North Carolina January 20, 2013
I was his nurse
his last weekend in the hospital. I am sorry for your loss,
but I am so happy that he was surrounded by his loved ones.
He was awake a lot at night and I could tell how proud he
was of his family. I know he will be missed. You are in my
thoughts and prayers. ~ Jennifer Green, RN, Newport News, Virginia January 20, 2013 January 20, 2013 Although we only knew him for
a short while, Louise and I really enjoyed our visits with him. His faith in
God was evident anytime we talked. While he was blessed with a wonderful
wife, family and friends during his time on earth, I know is enjoying his
new home in the presence of the Lord. May the Lord continue to bless his
family. January 20, 2013 I am so sorry to read this
tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I have thought of
each of you often. I would love to see you when I get a chance to return to
Newport News. I am pretty sure that he and Granddaddy have already found
each other in Heaven. They are in the Firefighter's corner. January 20, 2013

Words by
John Newton,
1779
(24 July 1725 – 21 Dec 1807)
Amazing grace! (how sweet
the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ'd!
Thro' many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promis'd good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine.
