Raye was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers and her first husband; Sidney Friedland. She was also preceded in later years by her husband, Charles Gerber and great grandson Tyler Trembley.

Survivors include her sons; Bernard Friedland (Celia), Frank Friedland (Marsha), granddaughters; Mindi Ranney (James), Sheri Trembley, Traci Dobronravova (Slava), great-grndchildren; Justin, Hannah, and Max, and one great-great grandson Tanner. She is also survived by Janet Gardner and Alan Gerber.

During her early years she was active at the Adath Jesherun Synagogue where she participated with the Chevra Kadisha.

Until her death, she was active at Temple Sinai.

The family is especially appreciative of the many friends and family that visited her regularly in the later years of her life. A special thank you to the staff at the Hidenwood Retirement Home, where she resided for 12 years. Thanks also to Grace Hospice.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. in The Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula, in Hampton.
