The Schappell Family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and concern of the staff at MCV, specifically the Thomas Palliative Care Unit. A special thanks goes to nurses, Bonnie, Carrie, Dawn, and Lisa, as well as clinical nurse Margie.

Lynette was preceded in death by her father, Charlie C. Taylor.

Lynette leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 36 years, Donald Schappell of Williamsburg; two sons, Christopher Schappell of Newport News, and Andrew Schappell and fiancée, Kimberly Brown of Williamsburg; her mother, Earline W. Autry and her husband, Jim Autry of Newport News; and her brother, Ronald Taylor of Raleigh, N.C.

Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelsen Funeral Home.

Dear Chris, my sympathy to your family, but especially to you, Chris, because you and I were friends for a long time. I wouldn't know about the death of your Mother if it had not been for a call from another friend, Keith J. We both hold you close in our hearts today, Chris. I think we both wish we could shield you from this pain...but we can not. I can promise you this, in time, it will hurt less. Thinking of you and all the good times we had, with much love, Caroline

Dear Chris, I was so saddened to read about your Mom. I know how deeply you cared about her and how your heart must be feeling a profound ache that won't go away. I pray that your special memories of your Mom sustain you and also knowing you have many friends that care and love you will get you through this most difficult time. We now pray for the living and my thoughts will be concentrated on you and your family. We are family as well, so when you hurt we hurt, you know that. I feel such sorrow yet find peace in knowing one day we will all reunite with our loved ones again in God's holy kingdom. God Bless you, with much love, Shirley Woolard (aka guardian angel)
