January 07, 2012 My
condolences to Aunt Boots and my cousins, David and Mark and their families,
on the passing of Uncle Alan. I remember the family Seders fondly. Uncle
Alan conducted them from the head of the table. They seemed long to us kids
at the time but rich in tradition. I remember Uncle Alan sitting at his same
seat at Temple during the High Holidays. While his voice was not quite the
level of the Three Tenors he knew all of the prayers and he was one to
admire for his love of Judaism. Uncle Alan gave me my first real summer job
at the Plant showing me no preferences as I always appreciated. He once
invited me to Kingsmill to ride the cart as he golfed. He was a very good
golfer but did not have a particularly good round that day. Uncle Alan never
was bashful about letting the golf club know how he felt. But behind that
tough shell was a bit of a teddy bear inside. As I became an adult and would
visit him and Aunt Boots when I came to Virginia, he always would ask me
about my family and the kids. He truly was a family man. Uncle Alan was one
of a kind and will be missed. Bart (Brett, Jake, Mia) January 07, 2012 Alan,
you were a wonderful friend and we had many good times together. We'll miss
you. Our prayers are for you and your family. January 07, 2012 My condolences to Mrs. Workman and Family. We will miss him coming by TowneBank to have his morning coffee and cookies. He was a wonderful man we enjoyed his visits and conversations. Sandy (Williamsburg,Va) ~ Sandy, Williamsburg, Virginia January 07, 2012 I am
so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories growing up with ya'll living
just 2 blocks away from us. My best memories of Alan are in Temple. He was
bigger than life. I can't remember a service without Alan on the beema. That
is why he participated in my son's Bar Mitzvah and daughter's Bat Mitzvah. I
also remember taking my parents to their anniversary party at the Marriot in
Kingsmill. They glowed with excitement and the love for each other. Bootsie,
you and Alan have always been an inspiration. He will be missed dearly.
January 08, 2012
David, please accept my deepest
condolences on the passing of your father.
