Doris retired to Williamsburg where she had a brother to whom she was very close (Robert Keene) and his family. She loved to antique. She opened a little shop called The Cozy Corner at the Capital Motel. She did many shows throughout Virginia, most memorably at Walsingham Academy. She acquired quite a following. She loved the antiquing trips and always took her faithful companion Corky, a cocker spaniel. In her later years she enjoyed her family, was an amazing cook, and liked to play bridge. She was a master bridge player. When the time came for her to have assistance for daily living, her nephew, James H. Keene, III and his wife Ruth found a lovely retirement home out in Omaha of which Doris became a resident. She spent her last years in Omaha, James and Ruth were devoted to her and took care of all her needs. Doris is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her well and will miss her greatly. Shall We Gather at the River
Shall we gather at the
river,
Where bright angel feet have trod;
With its crystal tide forever
Flowing by the throne of God?
Chorus
Yes, we'll gather at the river,
The beautiful, the beautiful river;
Gather with the saints at the river
That flows by the throne of God.
On the margin of the river,
Washing up its silver spray,
We will walk and worship ever,
All the happy golden day.
Chorus
Ere we reach the shining river,
Lay we every burden down;
Grace our spirits will deliver,
And provide a robe and crown.
Chorus
Soon we'll reach the shining river,
Soon our pilgrimage will cease,
Soon our happy hearts will quiver
With the melody of peace.
Chorus
