Louise Watkins Blassenham Leigh Probably Newport News High School Class of @ 1936 |

Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
There is
more sad news this Thursday morning. Louise Blassenham Leigh,
probably Class of about 1936, passed away in Dumfries on
Friday, December 31, 2012 at the age of 93. She was the cousin of
Jay Gunter
(Ferguson HS - '66) of VA.

She was a lifelong resident of Newport News and the only child of James Archer and Mary Louise Card Blassenham. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Walter Layne Leigh, Jr. She is survived by her two children, Stuart Layne Leigh and his wife, Donna of Dumfries, Va. and Bonnie Leigh Daughtry and her husband, Donald of Gloucester; three grandchildren, Bryan Daughtry and his wife, Katie of Middlesex, Va.; Eric Leigh and his wife, Michelle of Frankfurt, Germany; and Jennifer Davis and her husband, Chris of Minneapolis, Minn.; five great-grandchildren, Amber Daughtry, William, Benjamin, and Samuel Davis, and Alexandra Leigh; her sister-in-law, Frances Butler of Hampton.; and her cousin, Jay Gunter of Newport News. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was best known by her great-grandchildren as GG. She will surely be missed. Louise was also a charter member of Rebecca Floyd Tabb Chapter 107 of the United Daughters of Confederacy in Gloucester.
A
graveside service will be held Thursday, January 3rd in Peninsula Memorial
Park in Newport News, VA., at 2:00 pm, by the Rev. Kenneth Waclo of Bellamy
United Methodist Church, Gloucester. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of
