From Ed Nichols ('62) of Northern VA - 01/01/10 - "
Freddie McDowell ('56 - of ID)":
Carol, I want to wish you and ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Freddie McDowell, NNHS Class of 1956 and member of the State Championship basketball team where he played point guard I believe, suffered a heart attack that at first was believed to be critical in severity but was later determined to NOT BE as bad as initially feared. He is hoping to come home from the hospital any day. Freddie has been living in the Boise, ID area for years where he settled after a 20 year career in the Air Force. Freddie's mother was my aunt's (by marriage) sister so I from time to time receive information on Freddie. He and my brother, ![]() Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this website and the love that shows through you every day. We, NNHS alumni and friends, are the fortunate ones. As always, your friend, Ed Nichols, NNHS Class of 1962

Something that we can do to help ourselves. Nice to know.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your
mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards:
- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close
by
- say "heart attack!"
- say that you have taken 2 aspirins..
- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival
and...
~ do NOT lie down ~
Thank you
so much for this valuable information, Joyce!

"We Didn't Start the Fire":
This is a bit nostalgic.
Paul
Whether you are a Billy Joel fan or not, you probably remember his great
song, "We Didn't Start the Fire."
Here it is, set to pictures... very, very cool. Had to share this one. It's
a neat flashback through the past half century. I never did know the words.
Turn up the volume, sit back and enjoy a review of 50 years of history in
less than 3 minutes! Thanks to Billy Joel and some guy from the University
of Chicago with a lot of spare time and
Google.
Top left gives you full screen.....top right lets you pause. Bottom left shows the year. The older you are, the more pictures you will recognize. Anyone over age 65 should remember over 90% of what they see, but it's great at any age.
http://yeli.us/Flash/Fire.html
WAY COOL!
Thanks, Paul!

FINALLY:
From ArcaMax Jokes - 01/01/09:

Selling Vacuum Cleaners
A little old woman answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted
by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.
"Good morning," said the young
man.
"If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate
the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners.
"Go away!" said the old woman. "I haven't got any money!" and she proceeded to
close the door.
Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide
open.
"Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen my
demonstration."
In addition, with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway
carpet.
"If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from
your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder."
The old woman stepped back and said, "Well I hope you've got a darned good
appetite, because they cut off my electricity this morning."

When I woke up this morning
You were on my mind
And you were on my mind
I got troubles, whoa-whoa
I got worries, whoa-whoa
I got wounds to bind
So I went to the corner
Just to ease my pains
I got troubles, whoa-whoa
I got worries, whoa-whoa
I came home again
When I woke up this morning
You were on my mi-i-i-ind and
You were on my mind
I got troubles, whoa-whoa
I got worries, whoa-whoa
I got wounds to bind
Hey, I got a feelin'
Down in my sho-oo-oo-oes, said-a
Way down in my sho-oo-oes
Yeah, I got to ramble, whoa-whoa
I got to move on, whoa-whoa
I got to walk away my blues
When I woke up this morning
You were on my mind
You were on my mind
I got troubles, whoa-whoa
I got worries, whoa-whoa
I got wounds to bind
