George Kent, also a graduate of Newport News High School, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Hampton at the age of 91.

To My Grandma:
I don't even know where to begin. I was a child that was blessed to be able to get to go to their grandparents' house daily, and I LOVED it. I have so many wonderful memories growing up, and all of them include you. We were like best friends. I'd come over and you make me an "Eggo" or a "Bago" for breakfast, we'd watch the Today Show, The Price Is Right, and the soaps. We knew at noon Carolyn was coming to get us and we'd go shopping and to lunch! When I asked where we were going, you guys told me we were "going crazy." I remember sleep-overs at your house and how you snored and made me laugh while you were sleeping; how you made me cinnamon toast but you accidentally used celery salt because the bottles looked the same; that Friday was "hair" day and how you reminded us all that every day was "nice day." The memories are endless and I'll cherish them always. I know Granddaddy and Judy were there the greet you, I hope you're finally at peace. I love you and I'm going to miss you as we ALL will. It's an honor to be your granddaughter <3

			HAMPTON - Edith Virginia Kent, 91, a native of Newport News, VA and a 57 year resident of Yorktown, VA passed away on Saturday December 29, 2012. She was a graduate of Newport News High School and celebrated 68 years of marriage to her husband, George W. Kent, Jr. Virginia was a kind hearted, loving mother and grandmother to 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She always saw to it that her children and grandchildren had not only everything they needed but also what they wanted. She truly possessed a servant's heart putting everyone's needs and wants ahead of her own. She was a wonderful cook and perhaps the instrumental glue that held her family together. Her acts of love and kindness are countless and she is held dear in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Kent, Jr., and her daughter, Judy Kent Taylor. She is survived by her children: Carolyn Salmon (Kenny Salmon), George W Kent, III (Pat Kent), Woodie G. Kent (Sharon Kent), Stacy Taylor (granddaughter), all of Yorktown, and Kathy Larrivee (Yvone Larrivee) of Collegeville, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
